Mohist Canon B67

More Mohist Marginalia: A Reply to Makeham on Later Mohist Canon and Explanation B67. Journal of Chinese Philosophy and Culture 2 (2007): 227–59.

During the course of a research project on the Mohist Canons, I developed a new interpretation of the complex and puzzling Canon and Explanation B67. When I discovered that John Makeham had published a journal article specifically about this canon, in which he critiqued the interpretations of A. C. Graham and Chad Hansen, I decided to write up a paper evaluating all three interpretations and presenting my new alternative reading. Though the article has an unusually narrow focus, it touches on a wide range of issues pertaining to early Chinese philosophy of language, logic, and ontology. The pdf file indicates the original pagination of the journal article.
